VP of Locum Tenens
Summary:
We’ve been retained by US Physiatry, a physician management company, to find a VP of Locum Tenens. This is a great opportunity in a solid organization with outstanding leadership to entrepreneurially develop and lead a new locum tenens division.
The Organization:
US Physiatry was founded in 2011 by two physiatrists. Initially, their focus was in providing physiatry care in skilled and post-acute settings. They continued to grow steadily. In 2016, US Physiatry made a strategic shift and today provide 90% of their care in inpatient acute rehab units. Today, US Physiatry has a presence in 22 states with 170+ providers, in 70+ inpatient units.
US Physiatry has had a consistent and captivated client base of national rehabilitation service providers. They recruit physiatrists and provide a full set of MSO services.
US Physiatry is not private equity owned. They continue to be physician owned along with other investors. This dynamic has allowed them to grow and develop strategically, qualitatively, and with consistency.
The Role:
This is a newly created position, reporting to Joe Stork, President. Joe has had a successful career working with physicians for 40 years. Joe started with US Physiatry in 2012 as Chief Development Officer and was promoted to President in January of 2022. With Joe, you’ll find someone leading a positive culture that is supportive, growth-oriented, open to new ideas, and always fair.
Many times, US Physiatry’s clients have need for locum tenens coverage. Until now, they have either not provided this service or contracted out to other locum service providers. With a great deal of support, this person will build and develop the locum tenens service for US Physiatry.
There are several things that make this a great opportunity for the right person:

-
There is a very captive and motivated client base
-
There is a candidate generation done by a group of 5 physician recruiters
-
US Physiatry, based on their MSO is able to provide other cost savings and margin opportunity compared to traditional locum service providers
-
Outstanding leadership with a very high value people quality culture.
Though the company is based in Houston, this person can work remotely with some travel as necessary.
Ideal Person:
Experientially, this person needs to have worked in and understand the locum tenens physician model. It’s preferred this person have some amount of leadership or management experience, but not an absolute necessity. Personality and potential is going to be paramount.
This person will be a self-starter, someone who can develop and lead with support vs. needing to be managed.
Compensation:
There will be a competitive base salary along with an uncapped incentive model for the service line. There is a matching 401k and full benefit program.
